Not every year lends itself to the creation of a RESERVE wine, (for example, we didn't make a 2015 Reserve). It takes a special growing year and exceptional fruit to inspire Gary to craft a wine he feels is worthy of being designated "Reserve" here at Fortunati. For our second RESERVE Cabernet Sauvignon, this elegant, powerful Cabernet displays a sophisticated touch of Rutherford dust playing amidst intriguing fruit aromas and flavors. The 2014 Reserve Cabernet is a beautiful opaque ruby color, with delightful aromas of jammy blackberries, cassis, dark chocolate and sweet French Oak, along with a hint of graphite. On the palate, this full-bodied wine delivers corresponding flavors of cassis, blackberries, and dark plums accented by dusty earth and crushed stone. Impeccable balance, bright fruit flavors and finely grained tannins round out this rich, opulent wine. True to form, it displays the power and elegance that is characteristic of our cabernets, and this vineyard site in particular. We recommend decanting and allowing to rest ahead of service if intending to drink within two years of the release date. Or feel comfortable cellaring this wine for 15 – 20 years.

Tasting Notes
"This is a beauty. Dense purple-colored with rich crème de cassis, black chocolate, and blackberry fruit gently touched by some high-quality, toasty oak, it is full-bodied, rich, layered, fleshy and long. This wine should drink well for 20-25 years." Robert M. Parker, Jr. The Wine Advocate, Issue 228, Dec. 30, 2016.
